Specialist Physicians who have trained in the UK, US, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, and Switzerland are eligible to follow the streamlined path to practice in Ontario. If you have trained in one of these countries, follow these steps to get certified in Ontario.
Steps to Get Licensed
- Verify Training Country: Confirm that your medical training was completed in one of the recognized countries: UK, US, Ireland, Australia, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, or Switzerland.
- Credential Verification: Verify your credentials at physiciansapply.ca, a trusted platform for authenticating medical qualifications.
- Assessment by RCPSC: Have your training assessed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
- Letter of Eligibility: Obtain a letter of eligibility to practice in Canada from the RCPSC.
- Licensure Exams: Successfully pass the required licentiate exams.
- Licensing Status: Check your licensing status with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). If you don’t hold an Independent license, you may require supervision and a Restricted license.
