POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Our client is seeking two full-time Neurologists as part of a vibrant community practice including daily consultations to the ER, in-patient and out-patient work. They serve a catchment of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year. Total ER stroke cases have increased 17% from last year and will continue to rise as more stroke patients are diverted to their location for care from surrounding areas. Their Stroke Prevention Clinic has seen a 31% rise in appointments over the past year and the waitlist for out-patient referrals is now up to one year. Presently, after-hours and weekend calls are covered by the Internal Medicine group. There is an Intensivist supported 6-bed closed ICU, a strong Hospitalist program and a well-resourced 16-bed rehabilitation unit. The Stroke Unit is supported by a full interprofessional team (NP, OT, PT, SLP, SW, RD, CCAC care coordinator) that rounds daily. They are also a participating organization with the Provincial Telestroke program.
LOCATION:
Our client operates six hospitals. Their mission is to offer Quality Health Care, Right Here. They have 1,900 dedicated and compassionate staff and over 150 physicians who work together delivering excellent patient care to residents and visitors across their area. Their Regional Hospital is the largest of their sites, and offers a full range of specialty services, including complex surgeries, total joint replacements, cancer surgeries, MRI and CT diagnostic services. Across the six hospitals, they have more than 100,000 patient visits per year. Their rural hospitals offer a wide range of primary and ambulatory care services and all have 24/7 Emergency departments, lab and x-ray. The medicine department has eleven full or part time members. Subspecialties include Cardiology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Respirology and Gastroenterology. There is a significant volume of cardiac patients in addition to a varied general internist practice.
REMUNERATION:
$300,000 to $350,000 (fee-for-service)

QUALIFICATIONS:
Interested candidates must hold applicable FRCPC designation.
Independent license to practice in Ontario.
US Board certified Internal Medicine physicians are eligible for a full license in Ontario.
Physicians with Royal College Approved Jurisdiction eligibility eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO
Physicians that have successfully completed the RCPSC specialty examination via the RCPSC Practice Eligibility Route and hold the MCCQE1 exam are eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO
