Overview:
Our client is a four-site hospital organization that provides primary and secondary services to a diverse catchment area of approximately 160,000 people in the Hasting, Prince Edward Counties, and the Southeast portion of Northumberland County.
This 1.0 FTE position is fully funded by the Ministry of Health as an Ontario Alternate Payment Plan Position with competitive salary.
The successful applicant will have the unique opportunity of working in the cancer clinic of a community-based hospital in South Eastern Ontario, as well as at the CCSEO; a Queen`s University based, academic, tertiary care Regional Cancer Centre in Kingston. Both facilities offer new state of the art clinics and are supported by a dedicated group of multi-disciplinary team members including pharmacists, knowledgeable nursing staff and an exemplary administrative team.
This position includes a 0.9 FTE at a regional Cancer Clinic. The successful applicant will join a team of 3 full-time and 1 part- time medical oncologists/hematologists. As a Level 3 Cancer Centre, full malignant hematology Management is offered locally. Complex malignant hematology services including acute leukemia induction therapy and stem cell transplantation are provided at Kingston General Hospital.
As a member of the Internal Medicine team with our client, candidates would be
expected to participate in academic work pertaining to this department. This position includes a 0.1 FTE affiliation with the CCSEO at Kingston Health Sciences Centre where opportunities for clinical care, research and teaching are encouraged and supported. The successful candidate will be eligible for an academic appointment at Queen’s University at a rank commensurable with their qualifications. An excellent collaborative relationship exists across sites, with shared events including weekly case conferences, morphology rounds, and journal club.
Requirements:
Medical Degree with specialist training in Internal Medicine.
Sub-specialty training in Hematology Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCP(C)
Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
US Board Certified Physicians are eligible for independent license in Ontario.
Physicians with Royal College Approved Jurisdiction eligibility eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO
Physicians that have successfully completed the RCPSC specialty examination via the RCPSC Practice Eligibility Route and hold the MCCQE1 exam are eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO
Candidates will be required to have CMPA coverage.
