Job Description

Internal Medicine

Earning Potential – $450,000+

Supervision Available

Overview

The Hospital delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents. The Hospital is recruiting 2 Internists who would have a community based practice and in addition provide clinical care for outpatients and inpatients.

Internists are not required to cover the ICU as our Intensivists are a separate service. The Internal Medicine Department at PRH is a consult service providing consults to patients in the Emergency Department and inpatients (cared for by the hospitalist team). The Internists do not have patients admitted under their care.

There is also opportunity in the outpatient “rapid access internal medicine clinic” to alleviate length of stay for patients in the ED. The clinic allows patients to be seen in person by an Internist within days of their visit to hospital.

The Hospital is a full service medium sized community Hospital providing an array of diagnostic laboratory services including Nuclear Medicine, CT and MRI. Full specialist support including a Hospitalist Program, Anaesthesia, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ob/Gyn, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Physiatry and Urology.

This is a referral Hospital supporting smaller Hospitals in the area. The Hospital is a designated District Stroke Center and has a level 3 ICU that is staffed by Intensivists and a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists with access to all other allied health specialists. They have a well established referral protocol with local tertiary care centres.
